On their own, testing requirements for camera and radar technology are rapidly changing as they become more and more safety critical. And as these systems become increasingly hybridized the testing requirements quickly grow. A test system built on a scalable and flexible architecture is the only way to make sure you can adapt as quickly as ADAS and autonomous vehicle systems are.

As autonomous vehicles move closer from a concept to reality, the evolution of V2X technology that enables autonomous vehicles proceeds at a faster rate with a greater need for verifiable test and validation methodologies. According to one research, electronic systems contribute more than 90% of innovations and new features in the automotive industry, and the cost of electronics and software content in autos now represents as much as 35% of the total cost (compared to less than 20% a decade ago). As the line between autos and consumer electronics gets blur, infotainment systems with a wide range of I/Os, including audio, video, RF and wireless standards, and in-vehicle communications, become a critical part of automotive testing.

In this 45-min presentation, we will introduce the NI’s powerful and complete testing platform designed to provide automated measurements and increased flexibility to help you get your infotainment systems to market quickly while ensuring the highest quality for your customers. Whether it’s analyzing picture quality of rear-view cameras or satellite TV, testing satellite radio audio quality and functionality, performing extensive RF cellular characterization tests, or connecting to common in-vehicle networks, NI hardware and software products help you simplify development, increase code reuse and productivity, and dramatically reduce time to market.

For years test engineers have taken advantage of the lower price, outsourced risk, and easy upgradability of COTS (commercial off the shelf) components for their data acquisition. Until now however, there have been no good solutions for the other half of testing solutions – the switches, loads, and signal conditioning. SLSC is the first open architecture designed to deliver all of these same benefits, while still supporting integration of custom circuitry and load plates by being fully open. Learn how SLSC is helping companies focus on their domain expertise, building and testing next generation vehicles, rather than on building and maintaining data acquisition systems.

SET: The standardized & platform based HIL design with National Instruments products is the key for an optimal HIL system. Now, the new NI SLSC platform (Switch Load Signal Conditioning) closes the gap between the device under test and the standardized NI PXI platform. We will explain the platform in details as well as its use cases, especially in combination with NI VeriStand for ADAS Sensor Fusion & HIL.

Using a hardware-in-the-loop simulator for validating the embedded control systems in vehicles is a standard practice; hybrid and fully electric power plants add an extra layer of complexity to testing.

Cobra Control has developed a measurement station used for the simplified functional test of a control electronics module for vehicles capable of electric drive. The station tests the product before its enclosure gets completely closed, thus enabling the repair of the detected failures within the manufacturing process. The test station has been implemented on National Instruments PXI platform using LabWindows/CVI software development environment. The station communicates with the product through CAN bus and the implemented functionality includes high current and high voltage measurements.
